President's Message

Give Me a C!
As the summer season totally kicks in and goes into high gear, the same can be said for life at NAFEM. June has been a big month for change, collaborations, challenges, celebrations, communication and care.

Earlier this month, the NAFEM Board of Directors gathered in Denver for our two-day, long-range planning and board meeting. We took a long, hard look at where we’ve been, where we are today, and where we’re headed in the next five years. We took great care to review our existing programs and challenged ourselves to dig deep and make sure that where we want to see the association head in the future provides value to our members. Within the next month, we expect to have the formal roadmap in place to share with everyone, and I think you’ll agree – at least I hope you do – that where we’re headed is worthy of celebration. Our goal is to keep NAFEM, the industry at large and our role in it, relevant, dynamic and growing to 2021 and beyond.

Immediately following the board gathering, also in Denver, the officers of CFESA, FCSI, FEDA, MAFSI and NAFEM came together for a one-day planning meeting dedicated to how we can collectively and collaboratively move our industry forward. You might recall that these gatherings, which we’ve affectionately dubbed the “five families” meetings, started a few years ago when we all realized that we all were working toward the ultimate common goal – to make our industry great. We focused, brainstormed and have come up with some ideas to further investigate how we can provide value, cost savings and synergy to each association’s membership by collaborating on conferences, advocacy, technology and communication.

We’re still fine-tuning the details, but like NAFEM’s long-range plan, we expect to have more information to share in the coming months.

I am so excited by these very positive changes and for the collaboration and care with which all involved – both the NAFEM family and our key channel partners – have taken as we move forward. It might not seem like a big deal, but trust me on this one – it’s tremendous. The energy and enthusiasm for this moving forward is inspiring.

We’ll keep you updated as the plans take shape and welcome your feedback. How exciting to be proactive catalysts for change!
